PHILOSOPHY

We believe that:

Mission Statement

It is our belief that it takes a village to raise a child (African Proverb) to ensure the best start possible and aim to provide a healthy and nurturing environment. The education program will be guided by the theories of Malaguzzi, Steiner, Bronfenbrenner and Maslow to ensure a holistic approach.

Our philosophy aligns with the knowledge that:

- Children thrive in a beautiful natural environment, open-ended and familiar spaces
- Family is valued as the child’s first teacher and therefore their culture, knowledge and perspectives play a vital role in every aspect of the Service
- Positive relationships are considered central to all aspects of learning and development
- When children learn to respect themselves, each other and their environment they will become responsible and valued citizens
- Children express their imaginations, skills, interests, knowledge and development through the ‘100 languages’
- Each child is a capable and unique contributor: time and space should be afforded to allow individual development at their own pace
- Social and emotional development is the foundation for all other learning
- Connection to community ensures a sense of pride and belonging: ‘It takes a village to raise a child
- Educators are highly valued and respected: each one’s diversity is acknowledged and incorporated to provide a world of learning opportunities for children, families and staff
